greetings gnoff. You Manowar hater!
hey gnoffi, random question for you...
my AP Environmental Science teacher said the other day that in Sweden, you have this system where you do like 12 years of school, and then a year of some other kind of service to your government.
can you confirm this?
and if so, also I was wondering [since he didn't know either], what happens if you either don't finish school or don't do the service?
Not sure what you mean, but:
We have 9 years of mandatory school.
We used to have between 2 and 4 years of voluntary high school, most common was three years.
4 years was only the technical school and 2 years werre only (some of) the practical schools.
The school system has changed since my days, but I'm fairly certain that high school is still voluntary.
Not sure what happens if you don't finish your 9 years of school ,think the social service will do something.
If you don't finish high school I guess you won't get much of a job.
After high school men are supposed to do one year of military service, or if you choose not to you may do one year of "civil service" such as fire fighter, work with the elderly or at a kindergarten.
Women are not required.
Since the time I did it this has lessened to such a degree that now very very few actually do this "mandatory" military service.
It used to be that if you refused to perform this service you were sent to jail. not sure for how long, but less than a year at least.
Having a cold at the moment, hopefully nothing serious
