Would you mind telling what you want to thank for?

yestarday I was feeling terrible, I was depressed coz of something I saw on tv, which reminded me of a situation I was in a long time ago. But I never tell anybody about that, so I did not have anybody to talk about it.
But this morning I told that guy, and het told me to be proud of the fact that I have overcome the "problem" and that I should look forward.
And also that if I ever need him I should call him even if it is in the middle of the night
