I've never been swimming in the ocean on a stormy day actually... only in the pool a few times. sounds exciting though, maybe I should try :D

Well surfing in the rain is great, the water is so awesome then, as long as it's not windy. I've surfed by a canal mouth after heavy rains. The water gets murky, it's not a good idea since sharks are scavengers and come into those areas to eat after a rainstorm. They hunt for the carcasses of dead animals in the water that get washed down stream when it rains. The murkiness affects visibility in the water. So it's a bad idea

Yep, riptides can get you into a bad situation. I don't dwell on sharks when I surf, but if you're out alone =or with just one or two other people on a stormy day, it gets a bit creepy.

Yeah, for sure. Me and my two buddies were the only guys out there, and the beach is nowhere near civilization, adding to the creepiness...but nothing major came of it except for some very sore shoulders..
