You just may very well be right on that, and that is a sad thought! Why don't the promoters get more thrash on the billing since it's making a comeback. Probably because emo/metalcore makes more money than thrash for now. I hope that thrash does not get as big and commercial as those other genres.

hope not either, we don't need another St. Anger...

Though I feel that Maiden were a big reason why 2008 sold out quickly, and Maiden are a band that deserve to play WOA. But if the billing gets worse and worse each year, by the time I can afford to return, I'll likely go to a different festival.

my siblings either...
like my brother has both Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and he thinks that I'll think he's soooo cool for knowing certain metal songs
just today, I was watching a thing about Metallica's Black Album, and they were talking about Enter Sandman as the song played...
and my brother literally turned on Rock Band and started playing it...
I got up and left... watched it upstairs instead

well maybe he's not on a too bad way. Maybe you could turn him into a metalhead :D I also became one by adoring everything that my brother did (the one that I have such a good relation to). He brought me towards it when I was nine. About my oldest brother I didn't even know which kind of music he was listening to until I was like 17... maybe your brother is looking up at you and you don't know :p

actually when I was receiving my first Wacken wristband I was unspeakable proud. But by now I am not showing them anymore. Don't want every dumphead that was in Wacken for Hatebreed or whatever being talking to me...
yea, would be about a gazillion times better than BFMV...
and that's coming from me, and I even like BFMV

;)

it's annoying, he does it for other things too...
like whenever we're in the same room, and he laughs at something, he looks at me to see if I'm laughing too... every fricken time... he's just desperate for approval, it's sooo annoying

yea, like I'll have random kids at school see me in band shirts and be like, oh, I like them, they did this one song
and I'm like, do you even know another song?
but I'm not going to let that stop me from wearing them... I don't care what they think or do, I'm proud of my music

you don't have exclusive rights on metal :D

And wouldn't it be nice to be able to show someone in your family what is fantastic about metal and to have someone understanding you? Also you could actually show someone the 'right way' instead of making him finding his way to newmetal, metalcore or emo... and as I said, I do have the absolutely closest relation to my brother that showed me metal and we both love having that bond to each other. Some day your brother is gonna be adult and you'll have a great partner in him to talk to and be with

I'm just on your brother's side now, because I started out in his position. And if my brother would have told me that metal was 'his thing' and I should get off, I dunno what I would be nowadays but I am sure that my brother and me wouldn't have that bond at all.

well I guess that's a possibility...
but until he shows some willingness to look outside the 'popular' metal scene, including older metal bands he only knows from those video games, I hope he gets over it
