it could be a typo in the newspaper, that happens of course
but because in german it is with an H, I could also get you just typed it there out of habit

Well and that's just it. Being black does not qualify oneself as a candidate for the presidency. And all these people who seem to think that it is are then therefore racists themselves, identifying black people with radical change and being unstable. Of course this may just be my generation speaking...perhaps people who grew up during the civil rights movement (the 1960's) see things in a different way. But i've grown up in a time where all people are equal in the eyes of society.
no, I am sure I thought I read it, because I actually wondered about it, since I know you use double vocals to make a long sound and not an "h" like we do...
but I just looked it up and it's not written wrong in the newspaper. I really must have hallucinated it![]()
Obama zet zijn gemengde afkomst in om de kiezer ervan te overtuigen dat hij de juiste man is om tegenstellingen in de maatschappij te overbruggen.
well, but you are like just the youngest people, that are allowed to vote. That means all other generations being allowed to vote are older than you and therefore more and more used to racism. That's why we thought Obama wouldn't even get close to McCain during the elections.
but in the case of jaren, there is no double vowel, but I am not sure how to explain that
Well that is a valid statement. Though in the 40 or so years since the civil rights movement things have progressed with amazing speed, I think you underestimate us, a bit.
this is more tough...
Obama uses his big amounts of experiences to convince the voters that he is the right man to overcome the opposites within society
gemengde afkomst = mixed background
I told you I don't use a translator
because there is another vocal following on the "r". Vocal, consonant, vocal does always mean that the first vocal is long automatically. You only need the double vocal, if there is two consonants following but the vocal shall be long anyways.

Zoals hij op een van zijn eerste toespraken zei:
