I just opened a thread at the terrarium-forum to see, whether there are mainly ppl who like heavy music, too. I thought, there might be a connection, but it wasn't...

After getting into Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath it was a new group of gamers that got me into Metallica, Megadeath etc and my eventual slide to the heavier stuff. That was a few years ago now when Metallica was on the leading edge instead of the sell outs they became (In my opinion).

since i was a very small kid, i have always tendence to like monsters. for example dinosaurs. then come dragons too! with fantasy stories. and horror stories too! with monsters and all. i think mostly ppl that like metal also like horror and/or fantasy.
i always need more brutal monsters for me to happy.

yeah every DND player I know listens to heavy music styles as well...
