All cultures have modus operandi, the way things are done. As I did not want to do anything which would piss people off (which wound up happening since, apparently, asking for advice on such matters is off limits for reasons which still escape me), I asked. The rest is history.

If you must bastardize the question, at least do it properly. I was asking for advice for a new-comer about generally how things were done. Like the rules of chess. If I was to ask how to be "cool", it would have been like how to beat Bobby Fischer.
