I was too, afraid to use them. Have had one for two years I think, started to use it this summer, and it was great to not have all the money with me at all times...

The only flights to Skavsta/Sweden from Germany are from Hamburg and Frankfurt.
My flight to go to the party in October is a bit less than 40 euro.
Skavsta is about 150 km from Stockholm city, you can go by bus return ticket for about 20 euro.
Katta lives 400 km north of Stockholm, I live another 160 to that.
But you can go very very cheap to Sundsvall by bus (the city where Katta lives). I think it has been 13 euro one way.

If I can save money next year, I'll visit Sweden, too. A friend of mine has just moved to Lund, and besides, I'd love to visit a few big swedish cities, too.
