I don't travel for free legally, but they rarely check on subways

I've only been checked on once and there was a nice couple that had a group ticket they told them I was travelling on. But I'm also not using subways a lot

I wouldn't know, I guess Like I said, Hildesheim isn't that big, I don't face that kind of problems here Though we do have a main street going through town that's kinda annoying. There's some spots where you can't pass it properly. It sucks

The Sambre crosses the city. In the very center!
To get from one point to the other you need (of course ) to cross a bridge.
Charleroi itself isn't that big either. But the municipality however is.

Yea. I could change in Elmshorn, but then I gotta pay the whole ticket. The train that starts from hbf goes to Kiel. People that get on that train will be on the way to Kiel so they can't share a ticket with me. The train that starts off in Altona goes to Westerland directly past Heide, so I find people for a group ticket

I had to book my train ticket recently. (Zugbindung)
ANd since I'll arrive at around half past 9 in HH (Altona) and the train to Elmshorn is about 6min. later....
