i started German class yesterday and we learned cellphone as "handy" . I think it's funny how many words in German are exact cognates
My professor said, why think of a new word every time a piece of technology is invented? They just take the english. Fine by me, makes things easier

Happens a lot in German. There's the word "herunterladen", but you can also say "downloaden". There's the word "Bildschirm", but you can say "Monitor". And so on......
