Yes it's quite expensive, but it's worth it
It's similar from Asia as well, which is why I try to take one big vacation and club Wacken with another couple of weeks of Tourism. This is also why my Wacken trip this year is doubtful. Doing 2 weeks in Iceland in Apr/May.
Still looking out for good deals though, if I can get something under $1000 for Hamburg, i'll probably pull the trigger, else my ticket will be found in the bargain price sale in a couple of months

I still have 5.5 hours to go.
After that I'll go and support some of my colleagues because they'll will run up the stairs in a high rise building (it's an annual competition) . 32 floor, about 130 meters.

I don't know how it is for you where you're from, but the thing killing us here is the exchange rate to Euro. I need to pay 1.40$ Canadian to have one Euro.... that sucks

Isn't there a race like that in the US, New York, NY to be precise, where they climb the Empire State Building or something like that?
Well, we pay about €0.70 per CAD$ and about par for the US$.
But if it is more expensive in both Canada and the US, that won't help much eiter!
Say: You pay CAD$6 for a beer, and €3 over here, the beer here is cheaper! Even if it's like $4.80 (calculated in CAD$)

You didn't choose the best example, cause alchool is wayyyyyy more cheaper in Europe. It will always be cheaper no matter what

Except if you come to Finland.
At least in bars it's sometimes ridiculously expensive.
