I think mine started when I was 10 as well...
Yeah, I watched a lot of movies and tv-shows and all that were in english with finnish subtitles.Nowadays you can see and hear english everywhere so I think it's relatively easy to learn it.
Oh yes, here is everything on tv only in german. If you want something in english you have to watch it on DVD or Internet...
