Hey to someone who can speak from Official Wacken Personnel!

I am coming from outside of Germany and I have 2 debit cards, one Mastercard and one Visa Electron.

Can either or both of these cards be used for getting cash from the money machines in the festival site?

I must ask as I know that only EC debit cards or credit cards can be used at shops in Germany and do not want my son and I to get there and have no money!

Try to get in contact with the officals. But as far as I remember, the ATM did accept my VISA.

(memory might be impaired by some very delicious beer at that time)

I contacted the Wacken office, all they can say is that the machines are supplied and filled by Sparkasse.

So as I used both my cards in the past with Sparkasse machines in the past, I can just hope that these 'special' Wacken machines are the same!

so then u can try on monday a call here:

that´s the official bank in wacken, they should know what cards the accept

These ATM are nothing special. These are just the regular ATM temporarely installed. So - VISA accepted.

There are at least 4 ATM, I never saw all of them empty. They are being refilled regularly (and fast).

it might happen again,
so it's good to have a backup plan. ^^
