It really depends on who happens to get your request I think. Some people are much more willing to help while others just like to be assholes. I have no choice but to work across the border in another province because I can't work fully in French. Even here it's hard to find a 'good' job if you don't speak both languages fluently. Where as if I were to go back to the province of Alberta - where I used to live I would have no problem at all. It's only because Ontario is right next to Quebec. I think they have the same trouble on the other side of the province too..in New Brunswick there is a large population of French speaking people too.
Isn't New Brunswick officially bilingual? (Nouveau Brunswick)
I know about Ontario. I saw the indications in both languages there when I was there. On the road, in the airport etc. (even at the Canadian customs from the US)
