Sorry to hear that. The news seems to indicate a slightly recovering economy, lets hope it keeps on improving. And that the job market gets much better.

The news is a lie. :p The state of the economy means nothing if the job market sucks. Once unemployment starts really dropping, then I'll call it a recovery.

Boring alert:

It would appear that I may finally be getting somewhere with work. Another doctor has now finally been able to start using the program I've been trying to get everyone to use. I could have married that sweet Irish accent this afternoon :p

I hear that! It took me 9 months to land a new job, and at about half my old rate of pay.

Ouch. Well, times are tough. :(

But yea - the government/news measures the economy all wrong. They care about GDP, which is nice for bragging and country comparisons, but a growing GDP means nothing if 10% of the population is out of a job.

*trying not to rant* :o

Preach on sister!

:D

It's just flawed logic based on the assumption that when GDP goes up, unemployment goes down. But if you look at the actual data, historically, that's not the case. It only works like that about half the time. The other half, not at all.

But what's worse is when they act on those false assumptions, which unfortunately a major economic theory does. If the government takes aim at GDP, like they are, then all they care about is the amount of spending and tax rates. If they were right, stimuli and tax cuts would have fixed this mess. But it didn't, and the fact that they're aiming at GDP is one reason why. :p
