Ok so 2011 in a nutshell:
The good
- I volunteered to volunteer in time of actual need. It felt good
- After 11 full years waiting for it, I finally saw Rammstein. Too bad I lasted less than 4 songs in the mosh.
- I made up for missing Iron Maiden at Wacken 2010
- Work has been great. It's picked up, it's interesting, I've built a rapport and I feel a growing sense of purpose for the district
- After my band went on hiatus and I had one jam with another group of guys, I decided to give it all a rest until the end of the year. I re-discovered what it's like to have fun playing drums again
- I've spent a bit more time with actual people doing actual things that don't necessarily involve metal and alcohol
- a wake-up call followed by 2 windows of opportunity saw me take up physical activity again. I never thought I'd be able to run again without hurting myself but look at me now!
- the George Kollias clinic I attended truly inspired me to better myself. No-one else has ever made me go from apathetic but intrigued to fangirl in 2 hours flat. He deserves a medal for that!
The bad
- I still have no fucking clue what I'm going to do in Europe besides Wacken, Bloodstock/Leeds and Summer Breeze. Well, I have clues but no real plans yet.
The ugly
- The last good metal venues have gone. Not my fault though.
That just about sums everything up off the top of my slightly drunken head
