Hellloo all! this will be my first Wacken experience and was wondering if the merch booths take VISA? or just straight cash?

Cash only, from what I saw. Unless you get lucky, but don't count on it. There are ATMs available though.

at wacken HQ you can pay with visa, has been like that for years
on the metal market these days most of the bigger 'shops' have visa/maestro enabled

also there were last year 7 ATM machines available, but you mostly had to stand in line for about 30 tot 90 minutes to get your cash

Only few stands accept visa/mastercard into the metal market, without extra charge.

Also there are some ATM behind the biergarten (with a big line).

Not to forget that there's an ATM at the HQ itself.

The one at the Sparkasse did not work during the festival. (last year at least), only for printing bank account resumes.

I got my money out on monday, then it worked pretty well still
