Same do the catholics here Most of them don´t care WHAT holiday is. And yes, it´s religious...The northern german states work, most of the western and southern don´t. GNA GNA GNA...Altogether the catholics have appr. 5 more holidays than we have...

As far as i know it depends on how many inhabitants of each state are more catholic or evangelic. Or its a kind of free will of the government of each state as in Saxonia...
