the standard b-flat for practicing and for solo clarinet in the youth orchestra
and in the advanced orchestra I played either the e-flat or the bass (also in b-flat) clarinet

but that was in a class in my music school to learn how to read notes, and I played recorder because my hands were to small to play the clarinet

apparently there are two ways to play the timpani... American and German
