just reading it on this dutch news site
Is he the one I saw in Wacken?yea, me too. He's the one that I have this special bond to
that is complicated...![]()
Told you!![]()
that is complicated...![]()
Well, no.
Complictated story.
Leterme tried to influence the Judicial power. As part of governmental power, he is not supposed to do so. (trying to get a "profitable" verdict on the Fortis case in the Court of Appeal (Hof van Beroep, vgl. Gerechtshof) who ruled differently then the Court of Commerce (Handelsrechtbank, een Nederlands equivalent bestaat niet, neig naar een "gewone" rechtbank, boven kantongerecht)
The thing that only it appears he did so cost him his head. And when PM resigns, all resign. (after Jo Vandeurzen, minister of Justice himself had given his resignation before)
It appeared (hear say, I have to say this) that one of the judges on the Court of Appeal talked to her husband about it (and he is working on the political side), so he contacted the chief of cabinet or Leterme (=PM)
So, at least 2 mistakes were made.
1. Judge (Mrs De Groof-Schurmans) should've shut up, and not talk to her husband about it. That's proffesional secret, she violated it.
2. He (Mr. De Groof) should've kept his mouth shut, using "stolen" information is also a violation. (stolen as in not supposed to know here)
And the 3rd actually is that the chief of cabinet (Mr. D'Hondt) listened to the phone call where he could say, "Sorry, not interestsed".
For those who don't know the start, Small stock holders sued the State for "selling" Fortis to BNP Paribas.
Court of Commerce ruled that the State was right, stock holders appealed, and won the case in the Court of Appeal. Fortis' sell is suspended for 60 days. In these 60 days, stock holders must reunite to make a decission.
More complicated thing, parity.
Belgium is devided in 2 (big) linguisitc groups (French & Dutch)
In Government it is NOT allowed to have inparity. Meaning, if one linguistic group has x ministers, the other one has to have the same amount.
And...
Constitutional Court ruled all coming elections "unconstitutional" as long as the circonscription Brussels-Halle/Hal-Vilvoorde/Vilvorde has not been settled. This circonscription is the only BILINGUAL circonscription in Belgium (apart from the East cantons where this is German/French)
But... Flemish want to split this circonscription to a UNILINGUAL circonscription Halle-Vilvoorde and the bilingual circonscription Brussels as French speaking want ONE UNIQUE BI/TRILINGUAL circonscription "Belgium".
Is he the one I saw in Wacken?
Told you!![]()
Have fun explaining this in your school!![]()
