My cousin quit smoking when my daughter who was four at the time said "Uncle Eric, why do you smoke?" He could not think of a good reason to give a 4 year old and thought, yeah, why do I smoke, and quit right there and then after many years of smoking.

My wife used to smoke. We drilled it into my daughter's haed that smoking is bad, so now we can not smoke or we become hypocrites.
