if we completely stopped using oil, coal and gas right now

instead started using hydrogen based fuels, wind, solar and water power

everything would get better in the long run, though we've build up a "guilt" that will keep going up a while still

biggest problem I think is that all industrial countries would need to start using less energy than they currently are, that's not something you change in a year or two :(

it would probably take about 10 to 15 years or so, and for the bigger countries maybe 15 to 30, even if it takes that long, im sure it would still help out. but nobody would want to change anything that will take that long to fix.

exactly, all we can do now is start conserving like mad and hope it helps.

me and my wife have started doing our part, such as:

sold the car, always use busses, trams and such instead (public tranports)

use trains instead of planes when possible

turn off electrical stuff when we don't use it

don't use power saving modes

recycle what we can

and so on

sad thing is in Sweden, in 1984 the poeple voted that we would shut down all our nuclear power in 2010.

But nothing, absolutely nothing, was done in the way of reserching new power sources.

Nothing was done to get people to use less enegry, instead we're using more than ever.

Now they are shutting the stuff down, but we need the energy, so we buy coal power from Denmark and Poland, as well as nuclear power from Finland

it's messed up

one more point why Mr Bush should react and try to get something happening.

Like I said yeasterday, gas here is twice what you pay ;)
Some people are forced to sell their cars by now, too expensive to use them

it's one thing to plan out ways to conserve energy... but if you don't do anything about it, you can't expect things to get better on their own...
i think too many people do that.

yup

the way I see it it's bette rto keep the nuclear power for now and really invest in better power sources, at the same time as to teach people how to use less energy

then shut the nuclear plants down when we're ready

that's the main reason i don't want mccain in office next term... his plans are along the lines of "we've got plenty of programs in place, we don't have to do anything more"
