I love Wacken!
One question though, I will arrive at 18.23 at Itzehoe station on Tuesday night. Regular shuttle bus till 18.00 and the next one is at 20.30 hrs? I will be stuck at Itzehoe for 2 hours then….. That’s a shame after a long travel day and being so close to Wacken

Take a cab!
And if you're smart, you could try others to come with you, so you can share the cost.

Or try line 14 (nowadays 6170) from Viktoriastraße/Bahnhof stop to Wacken. Regular bus.

Yes, I already considered a taxi. It is just a shame when you encourage people to use public transport regarding footprints, that the laat bit of the journey is not well organized.
Btw, 6170 is not an option as it only runs till 17.35 hrs

There is a giant lack of bus drivers right now. So I wouldn't say it is "not well organized". Maybe it is just organized as good as possible.
