Rain and mud boots

When i was at Wacken 2012, it rained so much, rubber boots were a necessity and it was deep mud the entire time. Is this usual? Is it like that every year? Should I bring my mudboots in 2023?

Mud is always a possobillity, but it can be completly dry. Check the weather forecast before the festival, there is nothing more any of us can say about next years weather.

In worst case: prepare for both weather types! So you can either use rain boots or open shoes, according to the weather condition.
