DROWN THE MOTH is a creative collective from The Netherlands, merging ruthless modern metal music with soundscapes and ambient layers. Best described as a mixture between Modern Metal, Deathcore, Trashcore and Atmospheric Electronica, DROWN THE MOTH falls somewhere in between the gaps of today's metal genres.
Initiated as a studio project by producer, guitarist and soundscape architect Joris Bonis (Dodecahedron) and guitarist Arno Frericks, DROWN THE MOTH embodies the vision of a golden ratio that can be found when brutal metal and atmospheric electronica are combined. After a period of songwriting and studio pre-production Bonis and Frericks began auditioning members for their project and soon after started collaborating with vocalist Dennis Maas. Shortly after Maas added his relentless voice to the existing tracks the band met up with drummer Jasper Barendregt (Dodecahedron).
DROWN THE MOTH entered a new phase of songwriting and produced new material in the studio to give shape to an intense live-set. By creating a synergy between members the band worked out their musical concept and added percussion and ambient layers to their soundscapes, resulting in a non-stop musical voyage; merciless yet delicate. Right after finishing their live-set, DROWN THE MOTH joined forces with bass player Dennis Aarts (ex-Textures) to complete their line-up.
