Anyone from the USA going?

As you may already know, I am from California. I used to live in Switzerland (went to High School there) so I am no stranger to the Old World.
Anyhow, just wondering if any of my American bretheren will be attending Wacken. If so maybe we can meet up and share stories how metal does not exist in the USA so we must travel to the other side of this forsaken planet to get our fix. At least in California. I think the Eastern USA has it a bit better than us out by the Pacific.

yeah man, my friend and I are both here in USA going to Wacken!!
Can't wait!! We're also meeting our other friend from the US there, too. We live on the east coast, and metal over here is pretty decent. some good regional bands like Shadows Fall. But all of the sweet metal is in Europe!!!

we're an instrumental band with all kinds of deuling harmony/melody solos + violins! not very common in these parts!

Ancalagon: I think people underestimate the scene in the USA... have you attended Classic Metalfest or Powermad Festivals ? Those two are some of the best ! I wish I could afford to go to the Classic Metalfest this year...

Milwaukee metalfest is pretty descent, you can see bands from around the world. This year I'm going to see some bandas here in the metalfest, and then in wacken also.
We are from Milwaukee and we have the chance to go every year, and we have good time there all the time.
2 years ago Children of Bodom was killer that is why I want to see them again.

Okay, I'm coming in a bit late here, but YEAH! I'm making the long trip from sunny, tropical (er...) Washington DC! Flying in to London and taking the coach tour from there...should be a fun, drunken METAL AS FUCK time!

Anyhow - as to US metalfests...if they have the name JACK KOSHICK attached to them (as most do), they usually suck...bands are relegated to 30 minute sets, and scheduling problems abound (just ask Sentenced). Not to mention such insults as the infamous "Curtain Room" of NJ Metal Meltdown 2000 (nothing like hearing Virgin Steele and Nocturnus playing in the same room, right next to each other).

Powermad's usually a good show...even though the place they hold it at sucks and there's no real headliners. It's still a fun time.

Now this Progpower thing in Atlanta actually stands to be something interesting...
