Ich hau hier jetzt nochmal ein paar Reviews rein, die ich so aus dem Rhapsody-Forum übernehme:
Rock It:
„Symphonic Epic Hollywood Metal“ – dafür steht in den Weiten des Heavy Metal ein Name: Rhapsody Of Fire! Vergleicht man die lang ersehnte Reinkarnation der Italiener mit einem Kinostreifen, bleibt da nur einer übrig – „Die Rückkehr des Königs“ und nichts anderes ist die Truppe im Kreise ihrer Zunft. Oft von vielen aufstrebenden Combos kopiert, erreichte keine dieser Bands die spielerische und kompositorische Klasse von Chefritter Luca Turilli und Konsorten. Dass die Jungs das Zepter noch immer fest in Händen halten, beweisen die Songs des aktuellen Langdrehers »The Frozen Tears Of An Angel«: Opulente Chöre und bombastische Streicher untermalen geschickt die teilweise progressiven Gitarrenparts und schließen nahtlos an die Kreuzzüge vergangener Tage an. Wie nicht anders zu erwarten, gibt es an der von Sascha Peath eingetüteten Langrille in Sachen Produktion nichts auszusetzen. Mit ´Reign Of Terror´ stellt die Band den wahrscheinlich härtesten Song ihrer Geschichte vor, wohingegen ´Danza Di Fuoco E Ghiaccio´ an den Klassiker ´Village Of Dwarfs´ erinnert. RHAPSODY OF FIRE schaffen es immer wieder aufs Neue, einem die Freudentränen in die Augen zu treiben. Nach ihrer zwangsbedingten Auszeit von rund zwei Jahren, melden sich die Erfinder des symphonischen Metals mit einem Wahnsinnsalbum zurück, das in der Form wohl niemand auf dem Schirm hatte. »Triumph Or Agony« war vielleicht nicht ihr stärkstes Opus, doch mit »The Frozen Tears Of Angels« übertreffen sich die Italiener selbst und veröffentlichen eines ihrer besten, wenn nicht gar ihr bis dato bestes Album! Christopher Lee läutet im Intro 'Dark Frozen World' das nahende Inferno ein, das mit dem tollen 'Sea Of Fate' sehr klassisch beginnt. Das flotte 'Crystal Moonlight' sorgt mit seinem starken Refrain und dem Mix aus italienischer und englischer Sprache für Gänsehaut, doch der absolute Höhepunkt folgt mit dem majestätisch-hymnischen und bis dato härtesten RHAPSODY OF FIRE-Track aller Zeiten, dem fulminanten 'Reign Of Terror', bei dem die Band um Saitenflitzer Luca Turilli so ziemlich alle ihre Emotionen - samt Frustrationen - der vergangenen Jahre herauslässt. Was für eine Macht! Mit dem italienischen Folksong 'Danza Di Fuocco E Ghiaccio' folgt der extreme Gegensatz, ehe der musikalische Wirbelsturm mit 'Raging Starfire' fortgesetzt wird. Das gewohnt epische Highlight kredenzt 'Lost In Cold Dream', das überwältigendes Opernniveau besitzt. Den Ausklang bildet das schnelle 'On The Way To Ainor', ehe man zu dem finalen 10 Minuten-Opus 'The Frozen Tears Of Angels' ansetzt und nochmals alle Register zieht. Ein sprichwörtlich göttliches Album, das von vorne bis hinten knallt und lebt! Danke, Metal-Gott, für dieses Juwel!

Rhapsody Of Fire kehren mit einem fantastischen Longplayer im Gepäck zurück und knüpfen dabei nahtlos an ihre Glanzzeiten von "Symphony of enchanted lands" und "Dawn of victory" an. Zunächst einmal bläst einen die Wucht um, mit der die Italiener ihre neun Songs vom Stapel reißen. Der Einstieg mit dem hymnischen "Sea of fate" ist famos, gefolgt von dem Ohrwurm "Crystal moonlight", ehe der bis dato härteste Rhapsody-Track "Reign of terror" alles und jeden niederschmettert. Children Of Bodom lassen grüßen. Danach wird es episch und opulent, denn "Raging starfire" und "On the way to Ainor" bündeln all die Stärken und Merkmale auf majestätische Weise. Es kribbelt, ehe der elfeinhalb minütige Titelsong nochmals alle Register zieht und Rhapsody Of Fire in dem Licht erstrahlen lässt, in das sie gehören. Ebenfalls gelungen ist der obligatorische, italienischsprachige Folktrack "Danza di fuoco e ghiaccio", der für eine gelungene Abwechslung sorgt. Das Quintett ist längst eine eingespielte Einheit, bestehend aus den besten Musikern ihres Fachs und einem Fabio Lione hinterm Mikro, der abermals über sich hinauswächst. "The frozen tears of angels" ist ein grandioses Metalopus und nach den beiden Avantasia Werken die größte und mächtigste Überraschung des Jahres.

Well goddammit! It was about time! The Italian masters of symphonic power metal finally return with the follow-up for the 2006 album ‘Triumph Or Agony’! To be honest I kinda thought never to hear another Rhapsody Of Fire album again, but fortunately that didn’t turn out to be the case. The long wait had mostly to do with difficulties between the band and the former label and manager, Magic Circle Music. Fortunately Nuclear Blast was found able to take the band under its wings and the band’s seventh studio album (‘Reign Of A Thousand Flames’ not counted) is finally a fact!
‘The Frozen Tears Of Angels’ is the third part of ‘The Dark Saga’ story and is again a typical Rhapsody Of Fire album. From the very first second I’m fully concentrated and waiting impatiently and as soon as the voice of actor Christopher Lee (who, as most should know, have worked with the band before) comes through the speakers, I find myself covered in a huge portion of Goosebumps. Just like we are used from these gentlemen, the musical journey starts with beautiful, majestic choirs and orchestra and immediately you find yourself dragged into the fantasy world that guitarist, composer and mastermind Luca Turilli has created. The whole immediately sounds familiar and trusted and the smile is not to be wiped off my ugly mug!
Rhapsody Of Fire has been playing in the same line-up for several years now and the expansive touring during the ‘Warriors, Demons And Dragons tour’ has clearly paid off. I must say that I’ve been totally crazy about this band since their debut album ‘Legendary Tales’, but never before has the band sounded so much as a unity as they do on this album. Drummer Alex Holzwarth and bassist Patrice Guers form the solid sine, Luca Turilli and keyboard player/fellow main composer Alex Staropoli are in a constant battle of solos and fantastic rhythms and deliver one highlight after the other. Vocalist Fabio Lione however, shines more than ever and proves once again that he is the one and only singer for this band. His performance is in one word breathtaking; without any trouble he goes from the lower regions to the higher, from aggressive to sensitive and also proves to be a worthy black metal screamer in a song like ‘Reign Of Terror’. Outmost respect, really!
In comparison to the first two parts of the saga, ‘The Frozen Tears Of Angels’ is a bit more easy listening. There were the two previous albums needed more time to reveal themselves, the newborn masterpiece immediately grabs you by the throat and has more of a live-feel. Well, what more can there be said about this record? The album is one big highlight from the beginning to the end and is without doubt the bands best effort so far! And I do not exaggerate! This simply is a must for every Rhapsody Of Fire fan and also for every head banger who has dedicated his heart and soul to genius symphonic power metal! Now there is one thing left to say: Rhapsody Of Fire is back! Hail!

Another return and this one is a very EPIC one. The Italians princes of medieval symphonic metal has return with this brand new album The Frozen Tears of Angels released by Nuclear Blast label (their fresh new contract). Again the genius Luca Turilli came up with another chapter of their “Dark Secret Saga” which could be annoying but Rhapsody always manages to add something new.
Lyrically and musically this album will travel along the characters features and fears during their journey to the northern lands. I have heard the entire album at least twice, and even if power metal is not part of my daily musical doses I have to admit that their ability to insert orchestral and symphonic arrangements really get into my head making me enjoy their sound.
Each song reflects a tendency of the characters and the acts of Angels themselves (they can appear whether celestial or terrifying – “Reign of Terror” is my favourite track) and Luca Turilli’s guys reached the capacity to pass ideas without words. I mean, the lyrics help but if you focus on the music you will experience almost the same feelings.
The only thing that I still don not understand in Rhapsody style (maybe in the entire power/speed metal genre) is the excessive use of guitar and drum high speed, but that is only a opinion and not a fault. Therefore, for now my vote for this album (keep in mind that it is not my sort of music) is 9/10 due to their fantastic harmony among music, atmosphere and lyrics.
Strongly recommended to all Rhapsody’s old fans since this album has reached a great level. All musicians have performed at their best.
