Logic is practically an endangered species.
"I'd like to return this phone. It doesn't do anything right. I want to exchange it for another one and keep my time and phone number from this one. I called and they said you can do that."
So I check it out and make sure it's the phone on the receipt, that she's within the time frame for returns, etc. Then I go and get her a new one and start ringing it up.
"Okay, so what I'll do is ring up this one, and then transfer the number over. If I returned your phone before I changed it, you'll lose your number and your time."
"Okay'
I ring it up and tell her the total.
"What? I owe you $x?"
"Just for now. You'll get the money back immediately once I return the other one, but like I said, I can't do that yet or you'll lose your stuff."
"But they said I could do that on the phone."
"You can. But you still have to purchase this first."
"Fine, I'll just keep this one."
Not our fault whoever she called assumed she had $70 to spare that she'd get right back...
