There are much more differences..and there are so many accents not only south and north german. :)

That's what I was told, but I only visited Hamburg, a few places in Schleswig-Holstein and a few places in Bayern. My camping buddies at HOA were from east Germany and a user from this forum whom I met (he's from Bremen) said the same thing. I did pick up on a few dialect words being used; that was cool. Apart from obvious differences (who teaches them and how closely they pay attention in class) everyone from Germany speaks English with the same accent :p
