I didn't say it should be saturday, I just want the weekend to start on Monday already :o

Moin from Canada!

Sounds like everyone here almost is getting sick or just getting off being sick! That's not good! Hope you guys all feel better soon.

I have my fingers crossed for you! I need a PM position, still stuck in tech support. I have little hope for myself as you have to speak French around here to get into any manager type role and I don't :( My supervisor is going to try and get the contracting company to give me a raise though - maybe I will be lucky!

99.9% of the country speaks English here and for some reason they say that as a "manager" you have to speak French for that ONE guy who demands right to speak a language that 90% of the entire country does not use just because they want to be difficult.. Yet I can go anywhere else in the country and have a 'manager job' with only English. I wish I can move but not possible for me :(

I've been in this position as well, and in a bi(/tri-)lingual country it's logical you speak the "other one's" languagae as well. If you weren't English speaking, but French speaking, you'd have the same demand, just the other way around.
The fact you live in QC means you have to speak French. The same for me living in Wallonia. I have to speak French, even though I'm native Dutch speaker. (is same as in Flanders)

You speak a bunch of different languages I think ;) I speak Italian - but that does not help me here either :(

I speak 4. Dutch, English, French & German. That's it. (and I can understand Afrikaans and Lëtzebuergisch/Luxemburgs, you'll have to wikipedia that last one)

But I have the samw thing here. Bilingual country, if I can I do everything in Dutch, but I live in Wallonia = French speaking Belgium. And even though the majority speaks Dutch (59.5% Dutch, 40% French & 0.5$ German) I can't use it here. No one understands me.

Even in Brussels (95% Fr. 5% NL) you have to speak both, or you're unemployed. (or forced to look either in Wallonia/Flanders)

Been there, stuck in the middle of it. Including a Flemish version of the PQ (Parti Québecois)

"That's it"??!! 4 languages is amazing..I know probably most European people speak more than 2 but here we have a very HUGE area including USA where everyone speaks English and it is only in this little teeny piece that you have to speak French, not the whole country :( I can get by with French but I don't have enough to be fluent for business.

But (thanks wiki) you are not that far from Ontario. Can't you look there?

But I guess you'll wind up with the same problem. Being bilingual.

Alors, il faut que tu apprennes le français. Désolé. Mais tu n'as pas le choix. Même si 99% est anglophone, au QC c'est inversement.
