Crap.. no car and no one will be in the tent. We will put a little lock on it and put anything important in the locker too but those camp things will be rented and if stolen or damaged wee will probably be charged

My pants had big pockets so I could keep my wallet and camera + cigarettes, raincoat etc with me all the time and my friend... erm ... boyfriend had even bigger pockets so he could also keep our empty glasses there. Everything else we kept in our tents and we actually had our stuff in one tent and we slept in the other one and no problems at all.

But if you read the 1st part of the (German) forum, there is/are a/many thread(s) about thief gangs and how the orgas should stop them. Besides, even the orgas are pointing this out. So...let's call a cat a cat!

But... the most that gets stolen are (empty) beer cans, because of the (quick) deposit money. More expensive things are usually tracable one way, so they do take them, but not easilly.

Best thing: hire a locker (available on the festival forefield, details around July) and put your valuables there.
And buy beer outside Germany, even if that means, crossing the Dutch/Belgian/Danish border. (depending on where you might arrive)

I would say that it's still not as common as it is in lot of other festivals etc. I had my ipod etc in our tent all the time and I also still have them.

Not bad idea to talk to your "neighbors" though. That way they might look after your stuff while you are away. But that happens automatically.

I'll be using the ditch or a bottle! Unless I'm really close to the toilets - but even maybe then as well. I've heard stories about those! Are there even clean flush toilets around anywhere?

There are. But you pay for them. The others are Dixies. They're emptied every once a while (per day)

There are clean and free flush toilets at the festival area and lines weren't too bad either. Other toilets were mainly ok too and I always had tissues and those wet tissue type things with me so I could clean it before if I had to.
At night I just peed somewhere close to our tent like guys did. Ones some guys were trying to see bit more but their flashlight weren't good enough. If that makes someone happy then whatever.

back in 2010 a friend of mine got a whole bunch of good vinyls and CDs at the metal shop-store-market-whateverit'scalled and locked them all in his car...but...someone smashed the window and grabbed them...the car was still there though! if I was in his shoes I'd have preferred my car to be stolen instead

I've got time to share mine.

First wacken I went to (2004). Was pretty pissed. Woke up in the middle of the night (about 4 in the morning) really needed to go for a piss. Decided that if guys can use the ditch so can I. Walked up the road a bit. Pulled down my pants. Just as I'm squatting down this guy turns on the headlights of his truck. I had a nice spotlight... Finished what I came for and got a standing ovation from that guy and his friends. Apperently they have been doing that for 2 nights in a row and all girls just ran off.

I usually avoid those things but at Graspop my tent was too far from the toilets so I constrained my friend to hold my rain poncho in front of me to avoid the other people to see me while I was weeing between the fence and a tent... unforgettable moments
