and london is about as south as the souther parts of holland.

though I figured now that I could have taking a boat too, but I didn't know there was a direct connection with london.

I don't see what the big deal is about going on a plane. I see the polution part, but I still think that that's only the matter, if you start going to places because via plane it is so very easy. But if you just plan on going somewhere and then figure taking the plane is the most fitting, it's not really devious... It's a matter of the intention in my view

Bording stuff (and border controll is also in Bruxelles Midi/Brussel Zuid. So, no difference. You need to be in Midi 1h in advance of the connecting train to check in. Even without luggage. Same as by plane.
But tbh, I'm not fond of flying either.

I gain one hour by train too

besides, when I go by plane I need to get to the city too which will take time, now I pretty much arrive right where I have to be.
I could find any tickets for this low price either for airplanes.
