Ich hoffe, dass ich in Deutschland wohnen kann.

Whenever you use 'dass', the clause in which you use it becomes dependent, so you have to move the conjugated verb to the last position of the sentence.

Theres a lot of situations...firstly, whenever you use things called "subordinating conjunctions" - look it up in your book

Or when you use....shit...what are they called....demonstrative pronouns, i think.
