I'd like to have a beer, but can't.

Haven't had a beer for well over 9 days now.
MAybe not that much to some, but quite a bit for me.

I'm clinging with a fools hope to the belief that I will get to judge the Swedish Championships on Saturday and Sunday, but it's looking more and more likely that I won't be well enough

Puts us in a situation since we're only 4 qualified in the Götbeorg area available, and one guy was suddenly sent to Madrid.
Rules states you need to be three judges...

well, it's a bit more than "just"

We'll be sampling and judging 42 beers in two days.

I need to be able to make out not only appearance and smell, but also flavor, mouthfeel and bitterness.
It will take at least two sips of each beer to do that.

Say 21 beers in one day, 5 cl each, that's over 1 liter of beer.

We have the Belgian style this year, meaning (probably) at least half will be well over 6% ABV.

Doing that while sick and on medication = not only a bad idea but also dangerous.

well, the bottle is almost always inferior to any (clean) glass that you have in the way you do not get any smells in your nose at teh same time as you drink the beer, i.e. you do not get all the flavors the beer is supposed to have

If I'm in top condition Friday and stay off the meds I'll try having a beer Friday night and see how I feel.

Press release today where we've had a lawyer look over the negative publication our organisation received 2 years ago by a government institution.

We are now claiming our gatherings to be legal and will report the insitution for doing things they are not supposed to.
