Traditional Classic Power and Melodic Metal RULES!

My fave bands are Blind Guardian, Conception, Helloween, Savatage, early Queensryche, GammaRay, Glenmore, Stratavarius, Talisman and new Australian band Black Majesty.

Its great that there is a scene for this style in Europe..although still underground it has a lot more respect there than in other places where it is still loved but to a lesser extent in places like Australia and the US.

Does any one have any ideas on why its stronger in Europe especially places like Germany.

And for a new band I do recommend you check out Black Majesty if you like this style I think you will also like them as much as I do..kinda like early Queensryche meets Helloween meets Magnitude 9? I would be curious on peoples thoughts on this new band. I think they will go a long way when there album comes out early 2003.

I asked the same question as you have. Some Germans during the festival explained to me that Powermetal tends to bring people together and it's accessable music. It doesn't require much thinking and good listening to get into the songs. Personally I prefer trash/deathmetal because I don't like the high singing vocalists and the happy melodies

Im not really a fan of death thrash vocals personally but i like stuff like opeth because of the quality..but find death much more appealing than the nu metal crap that is peddled out..it offends me that they even have metal in the category..death to false metal!

As for high vocals and melody I like high singers if it suits the music i like it..some of my fave singers can get high so i dont have a problem with it..
