Local Town Atmosphere

Anyone have any opinions on the local towns to stay in for hotels this year(2007). I would like to at least have some local flavor when I choose a town/hotel. Good food close by, German architecture, any cool sites close by etc... I plan on being at Wacken most of the time but I may stay an extra day to enjoy the local sites/atmosphere.

Also anyone use their cell phones to surf web around Wacken? It sure would be great to have access to the web without issues being in Germany alone.

I am asking these questions now planning for a 2008 trip while everyone is still jacked about 2007.

Wacken, essentially, is in the middle of FUCKING NOWHERE.

If you can't be assed traveling a long way from Wacken, just spend time in Hamburg. Because it's interesting and they have good British fish and chips.


I miss fish and chips.
