I'm not from England ..but I just had a question. Is it really that bad?
From Manchester.
Where we are struggling to hold together anything resembling a "scene"

By the way you should order your tickets pretty soon...they are going to be limited for next year..hope to see you there..
Cheers

Well it is in Manchester.
Metal died a death in the UK in general with the advent of grunge - Nirvana have much to answer for.

Nowadays it's all kiddies with their pop/dance music (such as Korn and the Deftones etc.) and their baggy trousered punk nonsense.
Maybe it's because I'm an old snob, but this music is just not what it's about for me.
All the actual metallers around seem to be living in the 80's, there seems to be no place for the brilliant new bands coming out of europe. The so-called metal clubs are just terrible.
I'm thinking of moving to the continent to be frank with you.
Other UK people feel free to disagree...

Nope i completly agree with you there is no decent metal clubs near me and if there was then it would be all full up with all the teenie moshers trying to be hard but as soon as you you put on some decent metal they run a mile.
You are not far from the truth Nirvana has a hell of a lot to answer for.
There are enough decent new bands coming out but if you don't play Nu-metal shite then no-one really cares about you which is a shame.

Cheers for the concern, we need all the sympathy we can get!

I'll be there at Wacken this year, no fear. I have a very busy life, but it was still easily the highlight of last year for me.

I had no idea that there were so many metalheads in the world. It was like discovering a long lost family!

Places to play in U.K

i'm from Ulster, which technically speaking is part of the U.K. so..

My band Waylander are travelling over to England for a mini tour
in April. What cities would you all recommend to play ??
I've noticed that Manchester has got the thumbs down here.

RE: Places to play in the UK

How about South Wales? The extreme metal scene is starting to really kick off around here lately..especially Cardiff and Newport way..
There's been a shitload of bands playing a lil shade called TJ's; some heavy weights such as Nile, Behemoth, 'Corpse, Kreator etc. If you're headlining and need a GOOD support band; I suggest a Swansea based band called Mulch, they wont disappoint.
