some websites are reporting a ban on big events in Germany until august 31st.
Which would mean Wacken will be canceled/postponed.

I've heard the press conference. It's the same thing in Belgium. No festivals until Aug 31.

I just saw something a bit cryptic on the Summer Breeze event page on Facebook, so decided to come here to check if there was any update in plain English. I'm guessing if that's the case then it would just be for Germany/select European countries? As disappointing as that would be, it would be a massive relief to know now, rather than find out when I get to Europe. It's pure dumb luck that I was just lazy with organising my flights this year.
It's a national thing. Coindicently, both Belgium and Germany have the same date for (mass) events!
Italy is even worse, there's a complete lockdown, but Italy has been hit the hardest in Europe.
I reckon, Slovenia will follow soon as well, with a ban on (mass) events, as well as the Netherlands. Which means, no festival whatsoever, unless September should become doable.

If Slovenia could make up their mind soon (also the UK) that would be incredible. That way I'll know for sure that I can cut my leave down by a few weeks and spend that time drinking and crying in my backyard.
Well, the UK made a mess of it, because Johnson thought "it is just a light flu". He pays for it right now. A high price.
As for Slovenia, remember who has to come to the Metal Days! Not just the nationals.
And 3rd: it is (now) illegal to enter the European Union. Unless you have a valid reason to enter.
How sad we all are, this summer ended today. And it hasn't even started yet!

This is all true.
I think it's save to say nothing will happen this summer in europe.
As of now my flight to Japan is still standing, but I probably will have to cancel it in the next two weeks, if KLM doesn't do it first.
They already rescheduled my return flight yesterday, it's now a day later.

yesterday, the German government decided that due to the Coronavirus pandemic, no mass gatherings will be allowed until August, 31st 2020. We are facing an unprecented situation in our 30 years: It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce that there will be no Wacken Open Air this year.
Our whole team has been working intensively on the festival these last months and the more all of us are bitterly disappointed that we are not allowed to celebrate a Wacken Open Air with you. This administrative order affects us heavily and we will need some time to process the bad news.
Nevertheless, we support the decision of the German government in this difficult situation for the whole world. Your health and safety have always been and always will be our top priority. We as promoters are therefore bound to take an even greater responsibility and have to follow the instructions of the experts.
Concerning Wacken Open Air 2021 and options for your already bought tickets we will reach out to you asap but ask for a little bit of patience whilst we work through this. We thank you for your trust during times which are unparalleled for all of us.

Ah damn, I wasn't aware of that. How long has that been a thing? Have they said how long they'll keep that rule in place at a minimum?

So if I get this correctly, the border closures will be extended until may 15th.
But they advise against planning any trips until at least the end of august.

Many of you reacted to Germany's decision to ban all the events until 31.08.
It is very logical thing to feel that biggest metal festivals in Germany will be cancelled or postponed due to this.
If this happens I can hardly believe that bands will be still around for MetalDays 2020 even if Slovenia's government decide to lift the ban for the major live events).
We have scheduled online meeting with all the festival in same run for 23.04. (Masters of Rock, Resurrection Fest, Rockharz, Party.San, Wacken, Full Force, Metaldays, Midgardsblot, Reload, Bloodstock, Alcatraz, Brutal Assault, Into The Grave/Dynamo, Motocultor, Leyendas del Rock, Summer Breeze), and latest then I will be able to say something more without "what if".
Although we are working as if MD2020 will still happen, we are also playing with all the options about rescheduling, vouchers, ticket validation for our other festivals and money return in case of MD 2020 being canceled/postponed.
I am asking for a patience in this difficult time...we would love to have clear picture as much as you, but there is no clear answer in this moment.
As I said from the very beginning, we will not cancel MD 2020...it can be canceled only due to force majeure (government ban, artists cancelation...)
