I registered and I am starting this tread out of sheer anger and frustration.
Wacken is a wonderful festival and I have visited it many times. But I always wonder;

Were the HELL are the prog-metal and tech-metal bands?

Look at this list of great 2006 releases and ask yourself, why were some of these bands not booked for Wacken 2007?

A.C.T - Silence
Adagio - Dominate
Andromeda - Chimera
Beyond Twilight - For The Love Of Art And The Making
Cloudscape - Crimson Skies *
Degree Absolute - Degree Absolute
Derek Sherinian - Blood Of The Snake *
Martyr - Feeding The Abscess *
Meyvn - Splintered Skies *
MindFlow - Mind Over Body
Outworld - Outworld *
Prototype - Continuum
Prymary - The Tragedy Of Innocence
Pyramaze - Legend Of The Bone Carver
Section A - Parallel Lives
Seventh Wonder - Waiting In The Wings *
Sphere Of Souls - From The Ashes *
Spheric Universe Experience - Mental Torment *
Stride - Imagine
Time Requiem - Optical Illusion
Twisted Into Form - Then Comes Affliction To Awaken The Dreamer *
Vanden Plas - Christ.0 *
Wolverine - Still
Zero Hour - Specs Of Pictures Burnt Beyond *

The ones I marked with a * would do very well at Wacken!

O and for 2007 the new Symphony X album is planned.
Hey Wacken people ever heard of Symphony X??

Some of these bands are German! Do they not get noticed by the Wacken organization?
Hell, I am 48 myself! Yes you heard that right! 48! But I do think it time the Wacken organization stops booking 80s reunion bands and must start to look around at what good bands there are in THIS time. Its 2007! NOT 1988! Wake up and smell the coffee!

@ Hawk999: I hardly know any of those bands. Sounds like rather small bands, except maybe Vanden Plas, Derek Sherinian and Symphony X. Guess the organizators don't know them as well, so why should they book them? They can't listen to every new album out there... If you want them to book any of the bands you like, you should write them emails etc. - including the booking addresses or other contact information. Otherwise you just get the answer "Don't know them" or "Do you have any contact information?"
Ah, and the smaller bands usually have to apply themselves for being accepted to play at WOA.

Btw: There's loads of "young" bands this year, but mainly metalcore and related genres.
