Mir ist halt nicht so ganz klar, in welche Ecke man die Herren einzuordnen hat, ich kann leider wie Ihr anderen kein lettisch und bin etwas unsicher...Bevor ich Ottilie frage, will ich sichergehen...

Also nach lesen der Homepage-Interviews würd ich die Jungs auf gar keinen Fall irgendwo in die rechte Ecke einsortieren. Scheinen mir im Gegenteil ganz wache Köpfe zu sein. Aber ich kenn mich bei den Bands nicht so aus.

Dumdidum, hab mal auf www.skyforger.lv rumgestöbert und bin da auf folgenden Teil eines Interviews zwischen Peter von Skyforger und Volkmar Weber von Rock Hard (Oktober 03) gestoßen:

13. Final words or comments (maybe you can say again something about the reasons you put a Swastika in your bandlogo, what still really confuses people especially here in Germany and also a lot of writers in Rock Hard. I tried to clear them up with historical facts, but you know, people only see, what they want to see. I didn't want to make a political interview (there the better things to speak off), but a band statement in that case would be really good, as it clears up many thing, I hope...)

This is an old interview question. I can state once again that SKYFORGER IS NOT a nazi band, we don't have nothing in common with this thing, or any other national socialistic movements or whatsoever... our trouble started when I did draw band logo and at the times it seemed very ancient and cool looking, you know... We still love our logo and certainly this is big part of the band. This firecross is our national symbol and it's more that 5000 years old actually. The older meaning of this firecross (also known as Thundercros or swastika) is to give powers to it's bearer. That who wears it, is considered to have a protection of Gods of Nature - Thunder and basically all gods of Sky. In past last centuries it's been spread here widely, we can meet him on house's roofs, on gloves, on belts, on beds etc. In Latvia it is legal sign and nobody even cares about that. When we formed out concept of the band, it meant to sing about very ancient times and out cultural heritage, it seemed wise to work it inside our logo. Then we get some emails from our previous label that they are afraid of the logo and their sales can go down... they wanted to take it out, but without it there's no integrity anymore, logo then loose the whole meaning. Then we put warning on CDs "No nazi stuff here - pure pagan symbols only". I hope it works. But we have never had intention to be NSBM band or something. I understand that totalitarian regime gave bad popularity to this sign, but one can see what is under the sleeve - is this pagan sign coming from cultural background or used to popularise any neo-nazi things. People should be simply more educated about the topic. We are not about any political stuff, that shit simply does not interest us and like you said, there are many more interesting things to do in ones life. The world is big place and that's why therefore there are many customs and traditions, which can seem strange at first sight. Ok, Volkmar now this is all and I hope that I cleared up some unknown points about Skyforger. Thanx for this interview and all the best for you and your magazine. Lastly I want to say that we all here are waiting to get on road and to play some raging pagan metal gigs in Germany very soon, let's meet there!
