Yes, but IMO BfmV are the worst. I'd rather see Mambo Kurt on the black stage than even hear BfmV at Wacken...

You're not travelling to Germany to see them. You're travelling to Germany to see the bands you actually WANT to see.

My point is that i'm travelling to what is supposed to be a metal festival and i'm having shite rammed down my ears. If it was a crap band that actually fit then I wouldn't mind but BfmV do NOT belong at Wacken. I'm annoyed so stop being picky...

I must agree that this is terrible news. Next year will be my fourth time attending Wacken and i have always come back because of the festivals dedication to assembling a great line-up of real underground metal. I was suprised at the inclusion of Caliban last year but this is just a joke. If the direction of confirmed bands gets more and more like this over the following years then they can count myself and im sure hundreds if not thousands of other loyal supporters out of the festival.

I really think this issue needs to be brought the attention of the Wacken organisers. If it truly is a festival for fans by fans, this should never have happend.

good you do that then. look at the line up so what is they dont fit i hate them as much as the next person but unlike uk fests like download and damnation there are many many many other better bands beeing booked to and already booked that you must like. if the prostpect of seeing bands like immortal playing live again or that sacred reich have reformed and are playing wacken doesnt tempt you enough and that because bmfv are now playing you want to boycott wacken then your no better than the scene kids that bullet seem to take everwhere.

Bullet do fucking suck. But i'll give em one thing, they're brave to be playing wacken! Im sure alot of people arnt too happy about em playing, and i hope they get boo'd off the stage, or have someone piss in a bottle and throw it at em, cuz it will be hallerious

and throwing bottles off piss at bands its just pathetic. i remember at bloodstock this yr someone threw a bag of shit at deathstars. i hate deathstars but lets see you stand up infront of 15000 people and play. if you dont want to watch them just dont watch them dont ruin it for (god help if there is) people who want to watch them.

Yeah it's really annoying when you think of how many great band could have played in their spot, but throwing and booing isn't gonna work either.
Just ignore them. It's way more irritating for a band to play in front of nobody and get no reaction/attention then face a hostile crowd. A hostile crowd could motivate ''bullet'' to win them over. There are enough other options and places to go when these faggots play.

I have to say some change isn't bad. The choice to book Machine Head, Fear Factory, Ministry etc. was very good. But they earned their place.
To book some other bands than the typical Wacken bands is not bad, but ''bfmv'' is way out of line. We go to Wacken to escape those shitty festivals, and now this?

Some bands that never played or haven't played for years -(I know some of them played Wacken before, but I visit since 2003 and they havent played since)- and some that are different from the traditional Wacken bands, but would fit way better:
Judas Priest, Type O Negative, Danzig, Down, Black Label Society, Superjoint Ritual, Outburst, Eldritch, Seven Witches, Dream Theater, Dark Tranquility, Vanden Plas, Oceans Of Sadness, Scar Symmetry, Life Of Agony, Lamb Of God, Pro-Pain, Naildown, Ted Nugent, Pro Pain, Perzonal War, Devin Townsend, Raven, Angelwitch, Exodus, Agent Steel, Corrosion Of Conformity, Talisman, Chincilla, Armored Saint, Iron Savior, Steel Prophet, Soul Doctor, W.a.s.p., U.f.o., Lost Horizon, Detonation, Suicidal Tendencies, Winterlong, Strapping Young Lad, Tankard, Monolith Deathcult, Riot, Deadhead...

There are some shit bands on this year's bill - namely Bullet For My Valentine, Heaven Shall Burn and Black Dahlia Murder - but I will still go.

There are so many reasons why this is wrong but for me the main reason isnt because they are bad, I mean there have been loads of bad bands play wacken (did anyone see Carnivore this year? Maybe just my opinion but what the hell was that?) I think the main reason that this sucks is that the oganisers of WOA are changing the spirit of Wacken, the bands who play Wacken no matter what there genre capture a feel good drink til you puke and sing shreik and gurgle til your sore, the bands we go to see revel in there own outrageousness, pretentiousness, out and out heaviness. And this is mirrored by the people who attend, that is what i love about WOA, the atmosphere of thepeople who attend.

By booking a band like Bullet the organisers are trying to commercialise the festival and will attract hundreds of pasty prepubescent emos who merely writhe around in there own despondancy rather than rolling in the dirt puking and drinking like the real WOA fans. Fair enough try and expand the festival everyones looking for a profit somewhere but dont do it by destroying the reason why Wacken rules in the first place. You need to book more quality extreme acts instead of trying to book relatively small time Download acts and put them in high up slots (which seems to be happening looking at where bullet have been placed (same spot as ministry last year, who I believe deserved there spot as they are a band who have that wasted wacken spirit)
try looking at fresh extreme european acts.

This post is long and rambling and Im sure most have already skipped past it by now but I can see why Wacken is trying to change its line up if you look at a lot of bands who are being booked for wacken you find that they are either reunions, bands with few original members left and who have gone stale, releasing little new or good material. Obviously this is not the case for all acts and it often doesnt alter the fact that most of these bands do great shows but I think the organisers are seeing they need to add new bands to there roster but have unfortunately gone the wrong way to set it right.

Soulfly last year got a massive crowd as did caliban, this broke my heart to see (and unfortunately hear from my tent). It is easy to imagine how this made the organisers think, these acts are pulling big, young audiences (money money money), seems like a good idea to book more... I wont be watching Bullet at wacken I will probably head over to the party stage and see what frolics are to be found there, I unfortunately saw Bullet a few winters past and I guess if you like that winge-core lark then they might be ok but not me not wacken.

Hopefully the organisers who have done some great work booking acts such as enslaved, immortal , napalm death, blind gaurdian etc for this year will pay some attention to the vast reaction to the booking of Bullet and hopefully act on our pleas.

Dude, In flames is bigger now then Saxon were in the 80s. Of course they are placed over them.

Fuck In Flames to be honest their new material isnt far removed from Bullets. Its only their pre 2000 material which justifies there slot. What the hells up with Enslaved at the bottom and Napalm Death floating around in the middle, this is a band who practically invented grind damnit. wheres the respeeeect!?

Enslaved is one of the most overlooked band in metal. And Napalm Death latest album is really,really good. So I don't see why their logo could be a bit more visible.
