Does anyone agree with me that there isnt enough black metal at Wacken?

The only bands I can think of are sabbat and Mork Grynning, as Immortal are more influenced by death metal nowadays, and it seems they dont even play songs from Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism or Pure Holocaust!

Primordial are more a pagan metal band, Borknagar totally wimped out after Borknagar, although the music is still pretty good.

Children of Bodom are not black metal, as black metal is not power metal with sreaming vocals occasionally through a song, and the less said about Dornenreich the better I think, theytotally suck!!!

Suidakra are really good, but again, are more of a pagan metal band and Kalmah are in the mould of Children of Bodom!!!

The festival could really do with some more blkack metal this year, after all Wacken promised more black metal this year......

Lee.

@ Lord Horb, the BM subject may be getting boring for you,but think of all those people who already paid for flights and tickets, and unable to get a refund, plenty of people asked holger if BM bands would be playing and his replys were "Confirmation should be at the end of April" or "still in negotiation" etc, well thats just not good enough, maybe if he had been honest at the beginning and said that not many bm bands would be playing, then my family and friends could have made other arrangements,i can honestly say that not many of my friends are looking forward to wacken as much as they have in the past years
im not a rich person and this holiday to wacken the cost is rising for hotels etc , it looks like the wacken weekend will be costing myself around £1000 and that's not including spending money.
so i think on that note some people have the right to be pissed off and i wouldnt blame anyone for banging on about it.

I disagree with "the right of being pissed off". Wacken is not and never was a festival where black metal bands have/had a big representation. I guess that it's that way for a number of reasons, but if anyone wants blackmetal, one can go to Under The Black Sun festivals, No Mercy Fest, Headbangers Fest and a lot of other open airs all accross Europe. WOA is for fun and for metal in general (though i'm addicted to black metal, i have the waters well separated and i'm not travelling from the Atlantic coast to the plains of Northern Germany, through the black Woods to see black metal, i'm there for the event of meeting people, having a good time and spend all my savings..)

Well i tottally disagree with what you say(but you already knew i would) when people take time off work and spend their hard earned cash to come to wacken with the knowlege that holger has said there would be a good few BM bands ,only to be dissapointed after much money has been spent on air tickets(that are non refundable) and booking hotels(also non refundable). I was not wanting an all BM festival as im also meeting friends there, but a lot of people have asked in the forum(Q&A) about BM bands and Holger has either given irrelavent reply or ignored the question totally, sorry but thats not acceptable. thats my opinion and i think im entitled to have it.

@scareall: I get your point... but posting here won't make Holger & Co. confirm more black metal bands! if you want more black metal then you can ask him in the Q&A section.
I know that many people did that but you have to understand that Holger isn't a black metal head at all and in his opinion there are more black metal bands this year than last year!

are your friends are some of those who are in a bad mood all the time and really evil and listen to evil evil black metal all the time?? if so, then they shouldn't go to Wacken! Wacken is for fun!

well you could have saved the money for the hotel room! not camping is the worst thing you can do in Wacken because the camp ground is where all the fun happens ;)

of course you're entitled to have your own opinion, and I do understand that you're pissed... but you shouldn't have expected too much black metal!

anyway I hope you'll have a great weekend in Wacken and don't let the "pussy power metal bands" ruin your mood! ;)

gotta agree w/ LH. there may have been a few more BM bands last year (if you consider Dimmu in that category) but WOA isn't centred on BM.

a couple more BM bands would've been nice. but i'm glad we'll get to see those Mork dudes. Are Sabbat(japan) any good? Immortal is the Dimmu replacement this year, and they'll do a damn fine job too. don't worry they still play Battles in the NOrth

@ LH (haha, thats the initials of my real name)

I think a lot of people are pissed of when Holger promises something and doesnt go through with it, his reply to me regarding black metal was that BM bands dont play live, which is utter rubbish, based on two bands (bathory and darkthrone)

I even suggested bands sucha s Abigor (who will make their first ever appearance at a festivasl in Austria this month and who would have been a big crowd puller), but there never seems to be a positive response.

There is also cases of being told bands will play that ended up never being officially confirmed and other things that are quite strange. Believe me when i say that there are bigger bands than Avulsed pissed off about not being able to appear this year.

regarding bm fans, if you actually look at the amount of people there you will see that there is a large representation of the audience wearing bm shirts. A lot of stalls in the metal market and around the site are specialising in bm cds and t-shirts.

Most of my friends are into bm, this is my fourth time there, and from me going myself the first time to going this year (possibly almost 40 of us will be there!!) we always go to have a good time and meet people, but hey, I can do that at my local rock pub ;)

@ VimFuego

Sabbat are really good, I am sure you will think they are great once you have seen them especially as you enjoy both black metal and thrash!!

Lee.

@ LH i cant camp ,im bringing my two year old son with me,it would not be healthy for him to camp.
Also i have given up asking Holger about BM because i dont get a relevant response,so im not trying to change his mind(it's pointless) i know holger is not a bm fan but a large percentage of people at wacken are ,these people make Holger a lot of money
(not just bm fans before someone jumps on the attack) but i think he should have taken this in to concidderation when promising to put bands on then changing his mind, and can i also add that it was not just fans he messed about also some bands that i contacted where told by Holger there was a possibillity to play, then nothing from him.

@ LH you are right ,this is starting now to get boring.

@Lee: I can imagine that many people are disappointed by Holger! and to be honest, I expected more black metal for this year too since Holger promised there would be more... but I'm not too much into black metal so I don't really care. there are more than enough good bands on the billing even if there wouldn't be any black metal bands at all (just my opinion)!

this year will be my fourth Wacken as well, but I don't think there's a high percantage of BM shirts in the audience... it's just the average that you see at any regular show too!

@scareall: ok, I didn't know about your kid.. so that's a good argument not to camp ;)
and I know how many people asked Holger for more black metal... happened so many times, but looks like Holger is a lil stubborn child when it comes to Black Metal ;)
