No, it's human nature, I think. We're lazy, we want all the news and current events supplied to us in a convenient digest...like what the TV news or the newspaper offers. Most people are too lazy to make the effort of going on to Google or reading what newspapers in different countries and different political viewpoints are saying.

yeah, and that the Sept. 11th hijackers attacked us because they "hate our freedom." There've been lots of cute little phrases like that floating around since then. I've heard it all.

Bush wanted to start a holy waras you said before and it´s scary to see that so many people have the will to follow him :(

I guess it´s even worse, many people don´t even watch news, they get their informations from what other people tell em in a pub, while watching sport and so on - it´s called Stammtischgerede in Germany (what you allways say if you sit drunk together with others and say about poplitic and so on.... :(

Actually I think its even more scary (scarier?) that one person can start a war with almost the whole world AND the pope (worthless at he may seem sometimes) is against him.

There's a lot of very patriotic people in this country...and if you can convince them that a war is somehow for the good of the USA, they'll rally behind it, whatever it is. Bush is just taking advantage of that. We could declare war on Canada tomorrow and all those same people would be all for it because they're too stupid to know better.

I think I heard once about another national leader who manipulated his people into fighting an evil war by convincing them that it was for their own good. I think his name rhymed with Schmitler.

yeah, we have the same thing but no cool word for it..."bartalk", I guess? People don't go to bars for serious political discussion, they just go and drunkenly yell out "Bomb Saddam!" and "Fuck the French!" without really knowing what they're talking about.

Reminds me of "Southpark the Movie" and it´s hard to hear that from a socalled "modern, democratic country"

So you too see a relationship between Bush and Hitler? But isn´t it forbidden to say it loud?

I think this has happend more than once in history, the only thing we can do about this is to learn from the past.
And BOY did we learn our lesson. Painfully.
NEVER again.
