have you ever heard about someone who died or got seriously injured at wacken for any reason?
have you ever seen nazis?
do you think that jews/nigers have anything to be afraid from?

Every festival is a risk.

That you use the word "niger" is interesting....

Yes, one died. He was hit by an ambulance truck, as he felt totally drunk in the drive way...

There are 80.000 to 100.000 people, for sure some nazi will be there...

I honestly do not think that there is any risk because of your colour or religion. Most peolpe are tollerant and peacefull. Lots of drunks but even they are mostly harmless. I am female and the first time I have been to Wacken alone with my 13 year old son we never had problems, even in the smal hours. I am pretty sure, if you should get into trouble, for whatever reasons, there would be lots of people willing to stand in for you. Come and enjoy your time here, I am sure it will be great.:)

I must agree with you.
First time I went to Wacken in 2008 I've met and was surrounded by the most friendly people in the world.. :)

I've been 3 times in Wacken, and I personally never had any problems, I've only meet very friendly metalheads, I've never felt any kind of discrimination or racism with the metalheads.... (but between 75,000 metalheads probably some nazis will be there..)

I've seen metalheads from Israel, Arabs, a lot of latins, but to be honest I've hardly seen metalheads of African descent.

The problem sometimes is the security guards.
A friend of mine was brutally hit by many security guards, only to organize a wall of death last year, my friend had a broken nose, and very hurt in his face, he needed an ambulance to take him to a hospital in Itzehoe. This is the medical evaluation (in german)

I had 2 little incidents with security guards

1.- One of them forbade me to take photos in the wet stage, I do not know why, when everyone takes pictures.

2.-Another guard at the entrance to the festival area, checked my full metal bag, he found that would bring some cds / dvds I'd bought minutes earlier on the metal market and forbade me entry to bring those cds / dvds, I just change another door and i can entry without problems

Despite Sautherom having problems with security, it doesn't always happen. Most people have no problems with security guards on power trips. I have only had good things with security happen, except when I had a problem with some guy punching me in the back and pushing his way into my spot and the language barrier kind of made it difficult to explain I did not want help out of the crowd, I wanted them to take him out. Once they saw him causing problems, then he was removed.

I had one prob with security over 5cm!

As I'm sighted, I carry a caine. And its measure is 105cm. (For the record, I live in BELGIUM)
The guard just told me my caine isn't allowed in as it was too short for German standards. As I told them I live in Belgium, so that I had to follow Belgian law, he finally had to let me in, as I was about to call the police on that. (2nd time that happened btw, 1st time the security captain let me in, after I proved my point with my ID)
Since then I went through the backstage entrance. (something I can't do anymore)

I've seen some nazi's in 2008, but they didn't cause trouble. They were just hanging around their camp, listening to some nsbm*.

As said before, most people are really tolerant and if there are problems, many people will be willing to help you! So don't worry about that!

i think that i saw some nazis too in wacken 08, but i am not sure if they were really nazis, they looked like but..

i was on a train heading back to altona hbf, and i asked them a few questions, and they were very unfriendly towards us. i never meet anyone so unfriendly not even here in the azores. i moved my bag that was laying on the floor by them, and one of them looked at me, and said "shit" in german, i understood of course, i got a little bit angry and i was going to tell him to go fuck himself but changed my mind i didnt want to pick up a fight, and they were like 3 or 4 all of them "german towers" if you know what i mean. i hate nazis so much..

the other "problem" i got at wacken was: one guy very drunk passed by me and burp at me, but i didnt say anything, i dont like problems..

But most people at wacken are very, very friendly, i would say 99 %, wacken made me a better person, there are a lot of good people there, and this is the main reason why i am so addicted to the wacken festival: the atmosphere!

you know, i am not used to deal with people that are so opened, because people here dont start a conversation with random people, if they dont know you, they won´t talk to you, its that simple. and this happens at wacken a lot!.

I thought at first you were saying that the security guard was over 5cm! I should hope so... otherwise he can't be very intimidating :p

But seriously, that must have been very annoying for you to deal with! I hope it doesn't happen again. Anyway, they should know you by now, shouldn't they? ;)

It's probably good you didn't say anything back to them. It's hard sometimes to say nothing when you're really mad, but it can be a lot better that way... and like you say, less problems!

I was at Wacken in 2008. I didn't see any skinheads, but then again I wasn't looking for them. I was too busy staring at all the metalheads around me :D Still, if they don't bother anyone and keep to themselves, I guess there isn't a problem. They pay their money just like other people there.

I went with a couple of friends, but I wasn't with them all the time. I'm a girl and found that, even walking along that dark lane at night (between the campgrounds and stages), I didn't feel nervous or unsafe. Most people there are really happy to be there, and are usually willing to help you however they can if you're lost or something.

I got lost in a really heavy rain and a couple helped me regain my bearings while sharing their mead, and then I went past a tent full of half-naked Swedes (HEHE :D) who shared their vodka & Red Bull until the rain went away. That was really nice :)

I am not too worried about any dangers. Maybe losing money or passport my biggest fear..lol But I mean ANY event that draws 10,000 to 100,000 has the potential of assholes! football, baseball game, concert whatever. That's like hmmm 8,000,000,000 people on the planet are there any idiots!? ..lol

I'm used to seeing alot of "neo Nazi" skinheads at metalshows even here in Detroit. They used to be a lot of them, but they seem to fade out. I may not agree with them , but I don't piss them off, or confront them. Same thing we have biker clubs that go to shows, they leave you alone , I mean just don't give them attention that they may give you a hard time thats all.

I talked to Blitz from Overkill, a couple months ago, he said Wacken there are very little fights or incidents. but "if you mix beer with 50,000 Americans in one place, you KNOW they're going to be fighting" lol Which is true, a lot of concerts here, you get "Instant assholes....just add beer!" lol
